Jerry "The King" Lawler can draw!

Jerry "The King" Lawler is an artist! His show at Yalo Studios in Water Valley (20 minutes south of Oxford) is up until the end of October.

Here is a description from the Yalo Studios website-

From large oil paintings to original illustrations for various comics to self portraits from the 1970's to color drawings for a book about unruly Christmas elves that have watched too much wrestling, Lawler will exhibit a showing of work that is impressive in its diversity and history.  We are thrilled to have the great southern artist JERRY "THE KING" LAWLER represented at Yalo Studio.

The King and I
Here is the space- the whole building is 10' wide and 100' deep.
One of my favorite drawings! I really like these for the intersection between kitsch and earnestness

Showbiz Pizza anyone? Rock-afire Explosion? You should check out this documentary if you have any memory of the "Southern" Chuck E. Cheese.

Rainbow Cake

This painting is 40" x 50". I took the photos in Decatur- my parents were my photo assistants. The Rainbow Cake is from Sugaree's in New Albany and the background is a tablecloth from Mexico City. This cake is really yummy! You buy one in Oxford at Holly's Sweet Tooth.

Here is another photo from the series.
