Athletic Aesthetic


Sorry for the long hiatus...

I was nervous about posting this one too soon. In fact, I am nervous about this painting in general.

I fell in love with the tuba reflections at Ole Miss games last year. I took the photo this was based on at the Wake- Ole Miss game last September. I love how trippy the reflection is. I worry about the "hotty toddiness" of the painting. Oxford is full of painted homages to Colonel Reb.

I painted it for the spectacle, surface reflections, and the general over-the-top quality of college football. Who knows....

Wow! That's pretty cool. I don't see the hotty-toddiness that you are worried about. There is no obvious UM logo that I can see, and red/blue are pretty common varsity colors. This could be any school on game day. Pretty cool.

I love the reflection too! And don't worry about it being too hotty-toddy... even if it is, that just means you'll be able to sell it to some dentist in Tupelo for $2.5 million (even in this economy)!
